Jehovah’s Witness shunning destroys lives.

Imagine losing everyone you love in an instant. That's the devastating reality of shunning for millions of former Jehovah's Witnesses.

Once you’ve been a Jehovah’s Witness, there is no way to leave the religion without being shunned. Family members & friends, once your closest confidantes, are coerced by the religion’s leaders to treat you as if you are dead. Even a simple hello becomes a forbidden act. This silence is deafening, a constant reminder of the love and connection that's been ripped away.

Not everyone survives.

Our mission is to

Raise
Awareness

The greatest power high-control groups have is our silence. By raising awareness, we can chip away at the stigma and fear associated with leaving. Those still trapped within these groups may begin to see a path out, and those who leave will have the support of a more understanding world as they begin to rebuild their lives free from control.

Provide
Support

Many who escape or are expelled from high-control groups are completely isolated without any support network. By speaking out we can make sure that those suffering from shunning know they're not alone, providing a a lifeline for the shunned, and a crucial step in suicide prevention for those feeling trapped and hopeless.

Demand
Accountability

While the First Amendment protects religious freedom, it shouldn't supersede fundamental human rights or basic decency. We must demand that lawmakers enact and enforce laws to safeguard the public from high-control religions and put an end to policies and practices within religious institutions that result in harm.

You can make a difference.
